it’s a damn trap, ok?
Allow me to begin with a caveat: I’m watching Korra On Demand, whenever Nickelodeon takes their thumbs out their asses and puts a new episode up… and maybe the stuttered delivery is contributing to my first impressions of the story. (I just watched episode 7).
But honestly, I’m not sure I really like Korra (the show) all that much.
Korra, and her friends, and all the adults around her… are kinda dumb? The story being set up is so nuanced, the setting so detailed, but the way it is playing out sometimes confounds me in it’s obviousness. I feel like I am the only person taking Amon seriously. If episode by episode, I can see those plot machinations from a mile away, why can’t any one else?
Maybe it’s because Korra is an older character where Aang was a child. Maybe because Aang was surround by other kids where Korra is surrounded by adults. I just find myself expecting more?
More questioning of assumptions. More reasoning through details. More people saying, “hey, this really looks like a trap. And since we walked right into a trap last episode, this looks even more like a trappy trap trap now!”

I’m not too big on the fact that every “master” bender has had the crap beat of of him or her every episode they’ve been in. Tenzin is 0-2. Lin is 0-2. Korra has practically lost every fight ever, even against chumps.

Definitely feeling you on the whole “It’s a trap” but it’s still got my attention via OnDemand as well. My feeling...
