(via Taburakashi Full episodes streaming online for free)
In my quest to consume all media, everywhere, I watched the first two episodes of Taburakashi.
A down-on-her luck actress lands a job with an agency that hires people to play, uh, real people. In the first episode, Maki plays a dead woman at a funeral. The widowed husband needs help revealing the truth behind his wife’s supposed suicide. After struggling with the role, Maki has a transformative shower & makeover scene, then fully embodies the part.
In the second ep, she plays a CEO, while the real CEO pretends to be her secretary. After struggling with the role, Maki has a transformative shower & makeover scene (yeah, again), then fully embodies the part.
Coming off the conservative world of K-dramz, there are a lot of cleavage shots and sexy times. Like, whoa, BOOBS. And dudes just get up in there, touching them, without permission!, during kissing scenes.
The whole shower thing was one “By the Power Of Greyskull!” away from turning Maki into She-Ra. It was weird watching the exact— I mean, exact— same scene, at the same plot moment, in two different episodes.
Bottom line: Campy but maybe fun but maybe also a lot of WTF happening.
